Life is messy. But God.
There are a lot of things trying to take our focus off of where it should be as we celebrate Christmas. I have to be really purposeful in pointing my heart and mind to the truth of what we’re celebrating, regardless of my feelings, because my default is to get off track. How about you? Here's how we can have a merry Christmas no matter what.
"... whoever listens to me will dwell secure and will be at ease, without dread of disaster." Does Proverbs 1:33 mean we will never face disaster or difficulty?
I used to ask for wisdom and presume that God would one day give it to me independently of anything I did – I waited and watched, expecting to just sort of find myself suddenly wise. But that’s not how God says He gives wisdom! Read on to learn how He does.
As a follower of Jesus, I want to be like Him in every way possible. Therefore, my view of Scripture should match His view of Scripture. So I must ask… What did Jesus think about Scripture?
Why is death the penalty for sin? Have you ever wondered about that? Like, why not something else? Or, even better, some might say, why not just let it go, just forgive, without requiring anything? And have you ever wondered why a “little” sin would earn death just like a “big” sin – why a moment of envy or a little white lie would get the same death penalty as murdering 1000 people in cold blood?
Where do you get your information about spiritual things? Have you noticed? Who is telling you what it means to do right, or how to get closer to God, or how to deal with life?
Any practice that tells you to clear your mind is not biblical. It can sound good, I know, but when you compare it to Scripture, it’s nowhere to be found.
I would like to encourage this, for all of us, for today and for 2023 and for the rest of our days: Pursue Truth. Read the Bible. Study the Bible. This is where Truth is found.
