Life is messy. But God.
Isn’t it interesting how we go through our lives feeling like most of our moments don’t matter? We go through our days, waiting and reaching for the important moments...And yet Jesus tells us that we prove ourselves faithful in the little things.
As we begin a new year, so often with new goals and hopes for change, I have good news for you! Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to wait for your feelings or your desires to change. They aren’t in charge of what you choose to do. You are.
One of my favorite phrases throughout Scripture is, "but God." Such hope in that phrase! My sin earned me death...but God. This world is full of darkness...but God. Things don't go the way I want them to...but God. Things are sometimes downright terrible...but God. I struggle and fail...but God.
Where do you get your information about spiritual things? Have you noticed? Who is telling you what it means to do right, or how to get closer to God, or how to deal with life?
Any practice that tells you to clear your mind is not biblical. It can sound good, I know, but when you compare it to Scripture, it’s nowhere to be found.
I would like to encourage this, for all of us, for today and for 2023 and for the rest of our days: Pursue Truth. Read the Bible. Study the Bible. This is where Truth is found.
