In the pursuit of peace and unity, I would like to invite you to join me in an exercise. (Don’t worry, it’s not a physical exercise. Have you met me?)

Peace in Trying Times
Being filled with the peace of God when life is stressful sounds like a cliche and a platitude and an impossible, fanciful thing — and it is, unless we look to God Himself for it. We certainly can’t manufacture it on our own. Sometimes we can pretend, I guess…but probably not this week! Today, and… Continue reading Peace in Trying Times
Politics and Christ-Followers
Politics is first and foremost in most of what we see these days...and in many of our minds and hearts, too. But here’s the thing. If we’re Christ-followers? It shouldn’t be.
Favorite Scriptures: Psalm 107
I have a lot of favorite Scripture passages, but Psalm 107 is up there toward the top of my list. It’s rather long, but the picture of God’s enduring love, grace, and help toward us, no matter what, makes it all worth reading.
This Mess Isn’t New
What we’re going through now? This deep sorrow over oppression and grieving over evil, this weight of darkness that seeps even into those who should be windows to light, this distortion and twisting of good into evil and evil into good? It’s not new. This may seem a strange thing to find comforting, but it… Continue reading This Mess Isn’t New
Seek Justice
I don’t know what I could say that could make a difference in the overall state of this nation, in the hearts of those who hate, in this world where evil fights so hard against life and light.

“...in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others…” Philippians 2:3-4 “By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:35 “And the Lord's servant must not be… Continue reading Social Media Matters
More Than This Mess
Things seem an awful mess right now, everywhere and for everyone. I have some experience with mess, so I thought I'd share. I like things neat and tidy. My brain works better when there’s a place for everything and everything’s in its place. And I used to be able to keep things that way -- well, except for the junk drawer(s) and the mail pile. But technically those particular things weren’t meant to be neat and tidy, right? So they didn’t bother me. But then...life happened. Lots of good, some difficult...just, you know, life. And things got messy.
When We Can’t See the Forest for the Trees
What is it that keeps us from seeing other perspectives? We are generally caring people, thoughtful friends. Do we demand everyone we care about agree with everything we think or do? Do we stop caring about those who disagree with us? Should we all always agree? There is ultimate Truth, of course, which applies to… Continue reading When We Can’t See the Forest for the Trees
Even If
Even if. I woke up with that phrase on my mind last week, and it's been echoing ever since. Daniel 3. The fiery furnace, and the three young men who said, "If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it...But even if He does not..."… Continue reading Even If
